Glucose Tolerance Test - truth doctor will not bother telling you .

Aliya

Let me begin with stating that my father is diabetic (2 non insulin dependent ) so for the past 30 years I met many doctors in New York in Chicago trying to understand how to mitigate his pancreatic decline. The information I am passing through here is from the doctors office and for the medical professionals it is the truth . As you might know or not all those millions of diabetics take their blood not from the vein but their limbs capillary blood ( not from the vein) ( hands and even feet) the further from the heart the better and based on that reading their pills/ insulin dose is adjusted . So why not from the vein? The common answer I got is measuring blood from the vein does not tell us how fast the sugar is removed from the tissues which is what insulin does . It is more accurate to assess pancreas function when the farthest regions from the pancreas are tested. The regions like arms and legs which becomes the biggest problem areas in diabetics. So, how accurate is GTT? It is a measure but of what? So ladies just because you measured high tells little to your doctor , he or she needs to see the full clinical picture i.e. Gestational size of the baby , overall mothers appearance and condition . No one can tell you that you have GD just based on one number and if they do change the doctor .
