Quadruple blood test?

Question

Has any one had this please? I couldn't have the combined scan as baby wasn't in the right position so they told me I had to have the blood test instead ? But I want to know what to expect and what kind of results people got ?

I certainly didn't realise how scary the whole pregnancy thing would be! I overthink everything. I was really scared about the tests but everything so far has looked great and I'm now 23 weeks. Good luck! I'm sure it will all be fine.

I think it's just a slightly more detailed blood test compared to the combined. In the combined they use blood test plus a measurement from the back of your baby's neck to see if it has markers for Down's syndrome and you get an odds result calculated from both tests I.e. 1 in 50,000. For the combined you'll still get the odds result but they can't take the neck measurement into consideration because baby's grown too big. Even if the odds come back high it still doesn't mean your baby has downs....it just means they have found it has a higher chance. The only way to know for sure is for CV sampling or amniocentesis test where they check the baby's DNA.

Keeping fingers crossed for you but  most people's results come back fine x

Took its time never got the 1st letter! So had to ring up and chase it up finally for it in the post the other day !

I had it done just so we could be prepared if there was a concern. There was no question about whether to terminate or not. We were told at the scan that everything looked fine- they measure the back of the neck but a well developed nasal bone is also an indicator that you are low risk- so maybe look at your scan picture for that? I also had the blood test and got a letter back about 2 weeks later with the calculated risk.

So it's just kind of standard if I was booked in for the scan then do the scan and the bloods anyway ? I just felt like they were saying I HAD to have it done
