Eyelash extensions (HELP)

The person who applied my eyelash extensions is my husbands best fiends wife. So we've known her for a very long time, she went to school for what she does. She told me I CANNOT wet my eyelashes at all and need to refill every three weeks. I did some research and it says that in fact we do need to clean our eyelashes to prevent infections and whatnot but I am scared to wash them or wet them. She said when I wash my hair I did to my head badk in order to not get any shampoo or water on my eyes. I trust her very much but is she giving me false information ? I've noticed my eyelashes aren't as full as they were when I first applied them. And I'll be honest, a little bit of water has got on them but that's about it. What do I do?
