how do you get your baby to go to sleep at night?

My son is 5 months tomorrow and as of right now he needs me to lay with him until he falls asleep or he won't sleep and if he wakes up without me there he won't go to back to sleep. How do you manage? How are you getting your March baby to sleep? *thank you everyone for commenting!! It sounds like I need a more solid bed time routine

We do a bath every night, then lotion with some massage while we listen to bedtime Mozart for babies, then PJ's, book, and bottle. He usually falls asleep while eating and once I can't get him to take anymore I cuddle him for a couple of minutes and then put him in his bed. He sleeps usually 10 to 12 hours each night. I think the bed time routine really helps so he knows it's time to wind down. What also really helped was when he started Toronto his belly, he is much more comfortable that way.

we have a bedtime routine we do every night at the same time. the routine includes a bath, a massage with lavender lotion, putting her in her zippy, then a bottle. I swear by her zipadee zip even for naps she closes her eyes once I zip her up

We give our son a bottle between 7p-8p then snuggles for a little bit then put him in his crib. We use to swaddle arms out but now he immediately rolls on to his tummy when put down so we've stopped the swaddling. Some nights he wakes up around 1a-2a so I either give him a bottle or hubby snuggles with him in bed for a while before putting him back in his crib. We've gotten lucky with both our kids as far as being decent sleepers.

We go to bed together so yes, my baby needs me to go to sleep too, but I don't feel like it's an issue to me.

Thank God I never had this problem with my little one! I'm sorry I can't relate. people's mouth's literally drop to by the floor when I tell them my baby sleeps 12 hours straight and her body clock is set to 9pm to 9am. When she wakes up at 9am. I give her a bottle and then she wants to go back to sleep for another 2 hours! 🙄 but I would keep her up during the day if I can and if she falls asleep (which is usually between the hours of 2 or 4pm) I would only let her sleep for an hour max so her body can stay on schedule. Been doing this since 3 months and even when she was a newbie she would wake up at 1am for a bottle then be sleeping until about 7 or 8am. but from the beginning, I never let her sleep at night with her in my arms because she will get accustomed to it and I got her used to her sleeping by herself very early by putting her either in a bassinet or by the bed sleeper. Same going on here! She turned 6 months today. She's a good napper during the day, but since the 4 month sleep regression she hasn't slept well at night. She'll sleep 3 hours the first stretch at night, then up every 1 to 2.5 hours to either nurse herself back to sleep or have her binkie. and at night I definitely have to be there or no go. Most nights I don't mind, especially since I am no longer working (stopped last month) so I can make up for lack of sleep by napping with her on her first nap. We're ordering a zipadee zip soon, and will bring back her bedtime routine (lost it during our out of state move) hoping that'll help her be a more independent sleeper, especially at night.

I change baby's diaper and put on diaper cream, then burts bees calming lotion. I read her a few books and sing some songs. Then she lays in bed with me and I nurse her to sleep. Sometimes I hold her and rock her or sway with her until she falls asleep. 🤷🏻‍♀️ She needs me and I'm ok with it!

raylan and i start to slowly relax more around 7, 8ish with tv time and cuddles, sometimes we have play time. at 930 he has a half hour bath, he enjoys playing with his toys. about 10 he gets out, lotion, sleeper then i rap him up into a blanket, rock him with a bottle until he passes out. he usually wakes up abput 430 5ish everynight. he had a hard time falling asleep at night until i started using a routine. at first it was a huge struggle but in the long run its so worth it. been on the routine for 3 months and he will be 6 months in 8 days!

Everyone tells me in very lucky with my little girl. She has a bottle around 8pm then I give her a little cuddle & put her in her bed to fall asleep. She has her comforts ( her Dummy & mussy) then sleep all night till about 7-9am. She doesn't sleep much in the day anymore though, she will sleep maybe 1hour in the morning, an hour in the afternoon then the odd occasion she will have a sleep at about 6.30pm for an hour. She hasn't woken up in the night for a bottle since about 10weeks old. I think it's because we have always made sure she knows the difference between day & night. In the day she will have her naps in her pushchair if we are out or downstairs in the livingroom if we are at home & at night we take her to bed, feed her & make it nice & calm.
