Would you allow your child to have a bug as a pet, Insects like, ant/beetle colonies, multiple spider species and what ever other creepy crawler available?

My cousin has a tarantula, she handles it often and has had multiple over the years since she was 6/7 (she's now 18). My aunt is deathly afraid of bugs but allows her daughter to have them because she feels it's a great learning tool. I did some digging on that hobby and found it to be quite interesting. You don't have to handle the insects they don't require attention like a dog, and most hobbyist like them for "observational pets" .

Do my question is would u allow your child to have insects as a pet? Also, would u allow to your child to have an animal your afraid of as a pet?

Bonus: would you date or live with your S/O if they had bugs as pets?
