My boyfriend is too busy for me

My boyfriend just moved across the country for school a month ago. He's 22 and I'm 19. We don't talk unless I initiate the conversation, he doesn't tell me he loves me anymore unless I say it first, I'm feeling really alone and pushed aside. All he does now is hang out with his friends and drink. and go to class 3 days a week. I know I'm not getting the emotional support I need and it makes me so upset, but also I know he's busy but I figure if he has time to hang out then he should have the time to send me a simple text? I don't know. I haven't said anything about feeling abandoned but I talked to him two weeks ago about how I feel like he doesn't care about me as much as he used to and he quickly squashed it and reassured me but I'm just back in the same position. I don't know what to do anymore, I'm at a loss. I really hope I'm not overreacting I just feel really alone and sad. Any help is appreciated, thank you in advance.
