Is my S/O deliberately trying to ruin our lives?

He has been doing nothing at work. He has a fairly high up position, so his doing nothing has a massive impact.

He was put on probation for a month to turn things around or things would be taken further. He was given a specific list of tasks to do to make it easy for him, as his boss really likes him.

Worried, as we're expecting a baby in the next couple weeks and without his job we're screwed (my salary is pathetic) I ask him throughout his probation if he's completed the tasks yet. His response is always no.

Finally, yesterday the probation ends and he (laughing about it) tells me he's failed it. Cause he didn't do a single thing on his list. His reason? He doesn't feel inspired to do his job.

I'm having a baby in a couple weeks and we are going to lose our house. We can't pay our bills. I'm going to have to sell my car now. We don't even have any furniture for the baby yet.

Why would he do this??? He's not even remotely upset, he just doesn't seem to care at all? I almost feel like he's doing this on purpose to drive us away cause he didn't want the baby to begin with. What would you do?

Update: we were in a committed relationship before the baby, and he does want the baby now. He promised me things would work out and be fine. He wanted the house we have for the baby. He set our lives up to how they are now. And now he's leaving it all for shit.
