What didn't you get from your Baby Shower?

Question

I am currently 5 months pregnant and I'm wanting to stock up on baby items. What should I start buying? I have bought some diapers of different sizes and wipes. My MIL said to not buy anything yet and wait for the baby shower but I don't want to have to stress about buying things when it comes closer to the due date! Any suggestions would be appreciated

My boyfriend & I already decided that we'd buy all the "big stuff" and just put extra things we want on the registry. We have a crib, a changing station, recliner & swing. We're gonna get an extra little dresser for the babies nursery. I'm getting a stroller/car seat set through my job at a discounted price & we're gonna go get the mattress for the crib in a month or two. 
Stuff we're putting on the registry is like bath stuff, monitors, a wrap to carry baby, extra things like that. &I; we're doing a diaper raffle to help get ha stocked up on that 😊

don't stress wait until after your baby shower. instead of spending the money put it aside just in case there are things u don't get. u can always buy wipes, diapers and socks those seem to be something babies will always need regardless...good luck with your pregnancy 🍼🍼

To be honest, most everyone ignored our registry.  We didn't get much we put on there.  I would buy the big items at least. 😉

If you dont want to leave it when youre too close try to have your shower early, I had soo much gifts with my first too kids that i didnt have to buy nothing for the first 6-10months- so try not to stress it, try not to even get diapers for now thats all some people bring and usually some gifts cards as well so you can save your money

We had all the big furniture already but when people asked what we wanted I said stuff like nappies, bathing towels, wipes, cot sheets, clothes of different sizes.... I got a lot of things which was lovely. Only things we bought AFTER the baby shower was a bath, a nursing pillow, storage shelves and a nail clipper set.

Is your registry online? If so you can see what items have been bought. Honestly I would buy your "big stuff" on your own. On Black Friday I expected lots of my items to be purchased because the prices dropped so much and no one did so that's when we decided to go ahead and get the things we know we wanted like the carseat, crib, etc. We waited on the stroller though and used our Ergo Baby Carrier for everything.

We got all furniture ourselves and left smaller stuff and decorations on our registry. People like to buy cute stuff for the baby... not necessarily necessities. I had baby carriers, the swing, the bouncer, the monitor, and then tons of books, and other smaller stuff on there. I will say that though I had many clothes on our registry, I haven't gotten a single outfit from it. I've gotten tons and tons of outfits, but none of them have been ones I picked out... I think people like to buy what they deem cute. (I had tried to space out outfits over a full year because I heard everyone buys the smaller sizes and then at 6 months you have nothing left that fits... but despite my best efforts, this has happened anyways.) Two showers down and two to go, that's what I've learned so far.
