Can wearing thongs cause uti's?

I have reoccurring uti's and I can't understand why. It's not sexual and I wipe correctly. This is literally the only thing I can think of because I only wear thongs as underwear. does anyone know?

Yes :( and tight trousers I used to get them ALL THE TIME. I'm so good at getting rid of them now. Prevention is the best cure.  Stay hydrated. Also take potassium citrate as soon as you feel it coming on

Not sure about that but try urinating right after having sex. I used to get them all the time until my doc told me to do this and I can't remember the last time I had one.

I used to get them ALL the time and it wasn't from anything but not going frequently enough..don't hold it for too long etc..

Yeah I keep getting yeast infections. So now I'm switching to my cotton granny panties at night. Before I only wore thongs and Lacey panties :( I will miss my pretty undies but during pregnancy I'm apparently more apt to get yeast infections and bv infections.

Yes its possible! Especially sleeping in them! Your vagina naturally cleans itself and tight clothing and thongs can keep the unwanted bacteria up there.

Thongs are such a low risk. But to prevent it, drink lots of water and cranberry juice, when you feel like you have to urinate go do it, do not hold it in! Wipe front to back as always.

You need looser underwear with a good cotton lining. Thongs are usually to tight and irritating and have a teeny strip of fabric. You can still wear them sometimes, but maybe break it up and use some other panties most of the time. Also, if you aren't already doing it, you should be peeing after sex to help prevent infections/UTIs.
