First, this has a sort of darker approach to it but I think it has a deeper meaning that children are hurt by not being accepted. I am sure this has been asked thousands of times, but what would you do if you found out your child was a member of the LGBT+ community? Personally, I would be so happy for them and support them in any way I could. I wouldn't look at them any different.

Treat them the exact same as I always have done. Accept them, love them and support them. 
Side note: if they were a trans person we would obviously have the discussion of pronouns and names!

I used to think throwing a huge "coming out" party would be the ideal way of going about this. But what if I have a cis or straight kid? I didn't throw them a party when they tell me they like the opposite sex. 
I think the best way to go about it is treat it as "normal" as possible. Honestly I don't want my kid to ever have to feel like they have to "come out" to me the idea in itself suggest I'm homophobic or transphobic. (Imo)
I'd hope that raising my children with out gender roles will allow them to feel confident in discussing whatever may be "troubling" them. Rather it's something as serious as sexuality/gender or something as small as the "birds and bees talk"

I would really do anything. I'd simply provide them the same love and support I would if they were straight and/or cis.

Considering I am Pansexual I'd like to think being able to question your gender identity and your sexuality will be okay in my house? I don't think I'd change anything. Except of course pronouns if they have other pronouns they use. 🤷🏼‍♀️
If you wouldn't accept your kids for being LGBT+ do me a favour and don't have kids. You don't deserve them.

Have an actual discussion about it, it's a pretty important subject. 
Coming out is a massively important step for many LGBT+ people. News flash for the cishets, LGBT+ people can spend YEARS building up to coming out to family and friends. So brushing off that conversation and acting as if your child coming out is as insignificant and trivial as them saying they had a burrito for lunch is just fucking annoying and insensitive. 
Don't even get me started with the people who do the whole:
"I'd kick them out…
… so I could organise a surprise party! Lol joking, you thought I was gonna say something LGBT+ phobic lmao!11!1" 
That's beyond immature and just fucking unnecessary. 🙄😒

I would make sure that they know that they were 1000% loved and supported. I would make sure they knew I was proud of them. I would hope to foster an environment where they knew that even before they came out.

I kind of expect at least one of my children to be part of the LGBT+ community. Especially since I'll teach them about it from a young age and let them know their sexual orientation or gender identity will not affect how much I love them. I think since the current generations are starting to be a bit more accepting and willing to talk about LGBT+ issues, it will be less of a thing to come out and have some big reaction, if that makes sense. It will be more so just learning about their child just as much as learning what their favorite activities are and if they're right or left handed. Which is how it should be tbh.

My child gets to choose who she is and who she wants to be with. If she ask to change her name and pronouns so be it. If she wants to go with another girl to prom that is her choice.
