Because it's simpler. Because there is no "what am I going to wear today" Because there is no one breaking the dress code. Because no one gets picked on for not being able to afford xyz. It goes on.

I'm from the UK so I've had a school uniform for 14 years now and it doesn't bother me at all. It's easier and quicker. Kids don't get bullied for looking 'different'. I'd rather have a uniform than have to decide what I'm wearing every morning.

In my country all schools wear uniforms. Kids at cruel and not everyone can afford a wide variety of outfits- this way everyone dresses the same and there is no odd one out.

I don't think so. I like that kids are able to express themselves a little bit. Or that they can feel comfortable in their clothes. I've never seen anyone in my school make fun of someone for clothing except for the girl who wore anime costumes at random. I'm sure it happens though.

kids should be able to express themselves. And I hate the justification for uniforms by saying "you won't be bullied for your clothes" uhh maybe parents should be teaching their kids to not be jerks??? Maybe actually discipline bullies???

I'm on the fence. I can really see both sides, so I leave it up to each school. When I was in school I didn't want to wear a uniform though. I do remember my school floating the idea and it didn't go over too well.

I went to a private high school where they made us wear uniforms - you think it'd be a good equalizer (no one gets made fun of for their clothes) but kids find other ways to make distinctions between the high-income parents/families and average/lower-income parents and families by means of jewelry, handbags, cars, where u come from, etc. That being said, I can see the point of uniforms if ur in an area where there are gangs/gang activity. The public HS by us makes em wear white tops and beige khakis, they look like walking grains of rice 😂 but at least no gang colors!

No. It takes the children's individuality.

For me it depends on the circumstances and the required uniform. Where I teach the required uniform is khaki bottoms, light blue polo top, sweater is optional. There are pros and cons. Pros- we aren't arguing over dress code violations, we don't have the issue of gang colors as much as we would without the uniforms. Cons- most kids only have a few uniforms, so it's a lot of laundry, or wearing dirty uniforms. In terms of kids not getting teased I don't see a benefit. Now they just tease each other over shoes instead of complete outfits.
