Baby Boy arrived Sept 1st.

Dana • Married my soulmate Nov 2014. Have two fur babies and proud momma of a beautiful baby boy born September 1, 2017.

As I lay here at 4am in the hospital recovering, I figured I'd get my birth story down before it becomes distorted. Sorry if it becomes long and drawn out.

Anticipating the birth of my son was becoming a little nerve-racking for me but, I knew he had to come out. I went to my 39 week check up on Wednesday, August 30 and the doctor told us that my amniotic fluid was low. She said take a few hours to pack your stuff and get to the hospital. We called everyone to let them know this was it and off we went. Once there they started me on 12 hours of cervidil (which softens the cervix) I was already 2cm dilated. This actually started to cause back labor pains for me and since I had to wear a monitor I ended up laboring in many positions to try to find comfort. My husband was so amazingly supportive It actually brought us closer. They gave me Benadryl through my IV to calm me down but I reacted poorly and it actually just made things worse. Once that was complete I got an hour break, a nap and then I was hooked up to Pitocin. I started Pitocin at 5am. Dealt with 3 hours of contractions ( all back labor) that were five minutes apart and finally opted for the epidural....best decision ever! I labored until 10pm but was able to sleep a little and rest up for the work. At max dosage at 10 PM I was at 9 cm and they prepared me to start pushing. I had my husband make a playlist so we can listen to music while I was pushing. We were both nervous but excited to finally meet our lil guy! After an hour of pushing, the baby wouldn't descend and was turned "sunnyside up". The doctor turned him once.... Very painful and with the next contraction he flipped back over. Stopped pushing at 11:15 and agreed to give it about a half hour and see if he would descend on his own. At midnight we decided to have a C section. My emotions were all over the place and I kept apologizing to my husband for being a failure and not pushing him out. I was so worked up I threw up right after the Dr left the room. My poor hubby had to hold my hair back while I puked on the table. Once again, he reassured me what an amazing job I was doing and how proud of me he was.❤️ This meant the world to me and gave the strength for our next challenge. Once in the OR for my C section...hubs was gowned up and by my head. Our big 9.3oz boy arrived at 12:27 am on Sept 1st but my journey wasn't over. My husband was whisked away with the baby to another room and I thought they were sewing me up. Neither of us realized I was actually hemorrhaging and the drs and nurses were frantically trying to get it under control. With extreme professionalism and care they handled everything without panic. I lost a lot of blood and had to get 2 transfusions. Almost lost my uterus, they try to insert a balloon to stop the bleeding and had to open me up again to get it in. In the meantime I started to panic because I couldn't feel my legs and I felt something very heavy on my chest so I told the anesthesiologist and he put me out. My husband was frantic at this point because he realized something was wrong and wasn't getting any answers.

Finally the doctors came and told him what happened and that I was OK and in recovery. I was so groggy in recovery but overwhelmed by emotions when I realized what a blessing I had with my new little man and my amazing husband! ❤️😍💙

We couldn't thank our doctor and team enough for their expertise and professionalism and for bringing beautiful Zachary Rhett into this world safely and making our family complete. Thanks for reading...it's an amazing journey and well worth the prize! Good luck mommas! 😘
