When did you get your period?

My little girl is 9, she's getting little booby buds and informed me last night that they have growing pains! I was 12 when that happened and i didn't start until i was 14. So today i gave a brief period talk to she doesn't freak out if she starts. I know i was on the late side, most of my friends were 12-13 but I'm just trying to gauge what's "normal" lol thanks for your help! Any advice is appreciated :) i totally thought i would have more time...

I started getting boobie buds in 4th grade. My period didn't happen until I was in 7th grade. So between being 9/10 years old, I had 2-3 years until I started having my period. It all really depends on how her body is. 
My mom sent me to school (after I told her about my growing pains) with an emergency kit, small and in a travel sized plastic cosmetic bag. It held 3-4 pads, 3-4 pantie liners, 1 small bag of feminine wipes and 1 pair of extra underwear. That was just in case I started my period at school. 
I kept that kit all through 4-7th grade until I had my period. It really helped :).

I remember I started getting body hair (pubes and underarm) pretty young around like 8 and other signs around 10. I got my period at 11.

I was 12 when I started. I don't think there is any "normal" age. Id say it ranges anywhere from age 8 to 16. I had a friend in elementary school who started when we were 9. Then I had a friend in high school who didn't even start until she was 16.

My daughter is 9 and going through the same thing and has also started to grow pubic hair... the doctor thinks she'll start within the next year so we had a discussion about what to expect and I made her an emergency kit if she starts at school. The breast buds started when she was 8... I wasn't ready for any of this 😖 lol
