Can you put a small amount of rice cereal in a bottle?

First time mom here and my son is 6 months old. My husband brought rice cereal from Gerber and I gave it to our son for the first time in a bowl and he ate it. My sister who has kids say that I can put it in a bottle but I'm nervous about it because I heard you're not supposed to.

No never put rice cereal in a bottle that is a choking hazard it is only meant to be given in a bowl with a spoon

I am a first time mom as well and was able to find credible research on rice cereal. It's not recommended as a first food anymore because of the high levels of arsenic, rice causes constipation and it has no nutritional value what so ever. There are much better options for a first food. And nothing should be added to a bottle as it's a choking hazard. If you have to put something in a bottle, they aren't ready for solids yet based on the recommendations.

you are getting a lot of mixed signals here... ask your baby's dr, every baby is different! but I think its meant to be spoon fed. you could bottle feed then give the cereal maybe?

My dietician said to skip rice cereal all together and just do oatmeal, spoon feed though so no choking happens.

Yes you can follow that it says on the box it helps with babies that have trouble swallowing also if your baby is drinking formula we have one that's pre-made like that.

I put it in the bottle but only a little bit. 1tablespoon or teaspoon per 2oz.
It helped my son with his acid reflux.
My doctor even recommended it.
It's not the worst thing but you need to know that you can't put too much in it on it could be a hazard for him.

My son has had rice cereal in his bottle since 2 months old because he eats so much and was never full and would throw up a lot. My doctor recommended 1 teaspoon per 4 oz. you can use a heavier flow nipple so it will come through. I use beachnut brand or earths best. By 6 months it should be perfectly fine!
