What is an appropriate age to let your child shave their legs?

My 8 year old has very hairy legs and asked me when she's allowed to shave them. I think she's too young right now. But it got me thinking, when is appropriate?

If shes asking for it I will let her do it. Probably some of her classmates made fun of her (that's what happened with my niece).
I started waxing when I was 11, but with social media I have the feeling there's so much pressure to be perfect that girls start being self conscious a lot earlier.
My 12yo niece does abs every day and literally has a Victoria's Secret model belly. When I was 12 I was thinking about which Barbie I was going to ask for my bday and how many slices of pizza I could eat in one sitting. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I don't think the age matters as long as you help her so she doesn't cut her leg. Maybe even use nair cream 🤷🏼‍♀️

Who wants their child self conscious because her school mates make fun of her for hair? Id let them shave as soon as they get hair thats dark enough or long enough.

I was 10 I think. i remember wanting to so badly before then because everyone else was and it msde me self conscious and my mom wouldnt let me which really upset me. nowadays, I probably would definitely let me daughter when she is 8. girls nowadays are so different. they have boobs by 8. they wesr actual makeup by 8. they hsve social media to show these things off at 8. the world is so different and if everyone else is shavung their legs she maybe should be allowed. blonde Or not you can still see them and I wouldn't want her being made fun of for it and losing so much of her self esteem at such a young age. as others suggested, maybe make her use Nair for the first 2 years or so.
