Prevent tearing?

Hey mamas! 
Does anyone know of anything that can be done to prevent tearing? 
Ex: we use cream to prevent stretch marks. 
I would love to do anything to try and prep the kitten down there if you know what I mean 😉

My midwife and doula both told me that perennial (between vagina and anus) massage or moisturizing actually doesn't have any evidence or research to back up its efficacy. It's more about taking your time during labor and delivery and listening to their instructions though much of it is out of your control!

While I was in the pushing stage my midwife used warm rags and some kind of spray that she brought, and I didnt tear with my first. Hopefully will be so lucky this time!

I've heard olive oil massages between vagina and anus can help.  I have no clue.  I tore so little that they didn't even stitch me

I'm doing aloe vera in my pad or Pantie liner, because it helps it get moisturizer over time! 😀

Make sure you listen to your midwife when pushing. When they tell you to pant rather than push, make sure you pant, this prevents the baby shooting out (usually once the head is out)

I've heard that giving birth while sitting up in a birthing chair or doggie style prevents tearing. But you'd have to go all natural

My doctor told me about this device called the Epi-No. it's a ballon you insert into the vaginal opening and use it to gradually stretch your muscles so they get used to the size of a baby's head. I didn't use it, but I think you can find them online. He said it works better than massage.
