Had a small amount of amniotic fluid leak the evening of 36 weeks - the first day of my Maternity leave! My midwife gave me cervidil to soften/efface my cervix and said I had 48 hours to deliver. Labor unfortunately didn't start naturally so 36 hours later we started pitocin. I was in active labor shortly after. I labored without pain meds with a TENS unit and shower/tub therapy, but transition was tough - I asked for an epidural at the end - but when they informed me I was 9cm I said nevermind, so I could push! I delivered vaginally after 1.5 hours of pushing, at 7:20pm - just a few hours before the deadline! Gender was a surprise - it was a girl! She was 5lb, 8oz, 17.5" born at 36w2d but no NICU necessary! My recovery was quick and we are adjusting to breastfeeding and having baby at home.
