Civil Ceremony?

Have any of you ladies had a civil ceremony? My fiancé and I have agreed to have one and no wait anymore to get married. Of course I want my dream wedding, but who knows how long it will take to save up.
We plan to get married 11/3/2017 (November is my mother's birth month and unfortunately, she passed away last year and was never able to get married even though she so desperately dreamed of it) and three is my lucky number. 
We've set out things to do and have accomplished and it all starts with getting married. After that, we plan to try to have our angel baby within a few months after we both get our degrees.
If any of you ladies have had a civil ceremony, what should I expect? How was your experience?

We got married at the courthouse it was the best it was just us the judge his secretary and another who was on her lunch as witnesses no drama no worry only $50 for the license then we went to the bar had a few shots split an appetizer then went home his gma watched our son for the afternoon while we cuddled in bed and watched movies the whole ceremony was about 30 mins if that most of it was the judge talking signing then we left the judge ran the license next door to the recorder of deeds for us so it could be put into the system then that was it

My husband and I got married at San Francisco city hall last year. It was the most stress free day I've ever had! It was just the two of us and put photographer (who was our witness since my family was from Ohio and my husbands from Scotland so they couldn't be there) we casually got ready in the morning. I made a hair appointment in the city. I did my own makeup and bought a relatively inexpensive but still elegant brides maids dress. After our short ceremony, we went around the city taking pictures at the Golden Gate Bridge at sunset and then went for dinner! Such an amazing no hassle day! It's a day about love and that's just what it was.. just the two of us!
