Nervous about attending a new church?

I'm 17 and really want to start going to church again on a regular basis, I've found one that looks promising but I'm nervous about going because churches are like families and everyone basically knows everyone. I don't doubt they'll be really welcoming, I can just be kind of shy when I'm first meeting people and I'm probably going alone. Any tips??

Hey! I never set foot in a church until I was 16 and decided to give in to my friend who constantly invited me to youth. I realized I liked the whole religion thing but I didn't like that particular church so I went off on my own to find a church I really felt comfortable in. A little over a year later I found the church that I eventually accepted Christ and was baptized in! It was a little scary at first but one of the main goals of churches is to make you feel at home. Once I got into college I became a youth intern and our pastor preached at us weekly to reach out to new people we haven't talked to before or people who don't seem to be with anyone. If a church isn't making you feel right at home then it's not the church for you. I definitely encourage you to pray about it and continue to actively search for that spiritual home!

Pray about it. Just be yourself. There's always a lot that goes into going to a new place especially a church. Hope it goes well for you...
