Sperm 👐👋

I was told that i can't use unwashed sperm to do an at home Insemination ? But the sperm was coming from one of my close guy friend's. People who have sex. Get there sperm and it isn't washed when it hits the cervix !?! I'm so confused to why this sperm would have to be washed before hitting the cervix.
