My ex and I broke up in 2011. Lol he’s been walking around with my name on his wrist this whole time and I haven’t spoken to him since 😂 I don’t recommend it at all.

I dated my husband for three months then got married. I don’t regret anything. My husband got my name tatted before we got married I waited a few months after marriage because I was skeptical about getting a name on my body. But I love it. My husband and I have always said we don’t believe in divorce and no matter what we will work through everything. Our one year anniversary is coming up next month. I think it just depends on the type of relationship.

I typically disagree. My parents got there's after years of marriage. They've been together almost 30 years. But trust me they waited a very long time to get tatted. My dad waited 15 years and my mom waited maybe 5

My husband and I have ring tattoos with a heart and our initials. I love them! I don't think it was bad luck and I would do it again.

I would suggest getting a piece that can stand on its own but could have something incorporated to represent your SO vs straight up tatting their name on your body.  First of all it's so much more creative and will look better overall.  Second, if something happens and you end up separating then you won't have something super obvious and awkward tattooed on your body and you can likely leave it alone/won't have to worry about a cover up.

I don't think it's bad luck... there's definitely a lot of different opinions on this topic but the whole "it's bad luck" thing is just superstition. My boyfriend is currently working on a tattoo of my name on himself, he's a tattoo artist and he's pretty proud of how it's turning out. It's a very pretty tattoo and I love it. People have told me it's stupid and he shouldn't do that but you know what? It's his body and his decision, and if that's one way he wants to prove his unconditional love for me, who am I to say no? By the way we are also trying for a baby and plan to get married in a couple years. This is a picture of how the tattoo looks right now and it's only half done:

No bad luck just not a good idea. Think about it, how many couples stay together till death? Not very many. So do you really wanna be stuck with their name on your body in the most probable case that you will break up at some point? I know it's not nice to think about it but you need to remain practical.
