I was adamant this whole pregnancy about not wanting induced. Well, I went in for a routine appt at 38w1d on Monday and doctor was instantly worried about swelling in my one foot and leg. Sent me for a NST but said he would like to induce on Wednesday at 39w1d. I have heard horror stories about induction and really hesitated. I have an amazing relationship with this doctor and ultimately decided to listen to him. I called work to tell them the next day would be my last but didn't tell anyone else except my husband because they said they may not end up with a room for me and may push it to Thursday.

Well, they had a room and I went in at 7:30. Around 8:30 they started my Pitocin. I felt nothing even though according to the monitors I was having some crazy strong ones. My mom came in at 12:00 and I was bouncing on a ball and ordering lunch. The doctor checked and I was over 4 cm. He broke my water at 12:30 and immediately I was in pain. They gave me pain meds through IV and I basically passed out but would wake for contractions very couple minutes. I asked for the epidural and they have it around 2. I was back to feeling no contractions and my parents were hanging out with us and I was just kind of sleeping. I woke up at 4, said I need to push, and the nurse was surprised until she realized I was 9.5 cm.

The doctor was super busy, every labor room had someone in it. The nurse started out letting me push as hard as I could but I heard her say about the head and then she left, came back, and when I told her I needed to push again she told me to do easy pushes. I didnt listen...who would...and couldn't feel anything so I thought my pushing wasn't doing anything. My doctor came in, immediately grabbed his gown, and I told him it wasn't working. He actually smirked at me, told me to push one more time, and I didn't even know baby was out until he was on my chest.

The doctor was shocked how fast everything went for me and we are home and recovering. I was so scared of an induction but am so glad baby was ready and I didn't end up with a c section.
