PPD courage finally, what to expect?

Hello!
Four months post partum and finally seeking care for PPD. 
My OB doesn’t treat PPD after 6 weeks (is that normal?) so I have to see a brand new primary care doctor...
What to expect? 
Prescription antidepressant?
Referral to psychiatrist? 
When did you feel better? 
Did you actually tell Doctor about intrusive thoughts?

Um you need to find a new doctor ASAP!! PPD can happen at any point. You would need to tell your doctor about how you've been thinking and they damn well better give you a referral to see a psychiatrist even put you on meds if necessary.
Sorry for some of the language. I suffered from PPD/PPA for 18 months and had some doctors dismiss it. Obviously something was wrong. So I really hate when I see other women being dismissed as well

Good for you girl!! Prescription antidepressant was a game changer for me; it's not a miracle cure but it makes everything more manageable. It took me about 2 weeks to notice a difference and after that my psychiatrist (I was referred) adjusted the meds here and there until I felt balanced and like "myself".
