36+4 L&D visit for decreased fetal movement
Yesterday afternoon Hubby and I took a trip to the med center L&D; due to LO not moving like his normal self. I had felt decreased movement for two days at that point and decided I should get it checked out.
Omg the L&D; nurses were so freaking kind there and reassured me I did the right thing by coming in to check. I was monitored for five hours, had a BPP and two cervical checks. We found out LO is just fine (thank god) but I was dehydrated. They have me some apple juice and he started doing his normal fussing for them (of course). What i didn’t know is that I was having very regular contractions 2-5 minutes apart. They felt like Braxton hicks to me but the nurses were surprised at how well they looked on monitoring. They checked me and I’m 1cm and 80% effaced at a -1 station.Big diff from my 35 week visit when I was 0 and closed.
They never could find an IV on me since I have horrible veins so they let me sit there and down crazy amounts of water until we got the contractions to be 5 minutes apart. We were finally discharged and my god did it feel good to go home.
All I can say is if you feel something is off, don’t hesitate or be embarrassed to get it looked at. And I’m also feeling a lot less apprehensive as a FTM about hospitals and delivery after how nice everyone was.
