HELP?!

Would it be weird or rushed if I gave my boyfriend a promise ring? We have been dating since mid July he's 26 and I'm 18, we've been taking things super serious since we are limited on time. I have enlisted into the military and I will be shipping out to BCT 10/09. We are perfect for one another, we have traveled together a few times for the heck of it and plan to do some more traveling when I come back for the holidays. It all seems so unreal and unbelievable, he gives me so much hope by saying distance shouldn't be a problem if we are committed to one another, so I agree. Although here and there he has his doubts of me finding someone new, basically saying I'll be moving on as I am away... That's when I came across the idea of the whole promise ring as a way of showing that I'm willing to do all for him and not to have his mind wonder and doubting me as I am in the military. I've talked to my family and they're all in. Considering the fact that we have been dating for so little months, would it be bad if I gave a promise ring?
