Buying Stuff?

Question

When do you guys plan to start buying things that you will need? I’m 10wks and bc we just moved to another state, our first appointment is not until next week. I’m thinking about starting to get things after the appointment like diapers, wipes, white onesies etc.

I'm also 10 weeks and I'm dying to start buying stuff, but we haven't even announced yet. I have thousands of items added to my online shopping lists though and been doing a ton of research on the big stuff. We'll probably start shopping once I show and feel some movement around week 16-20. We plan to announce on Halloween :)

Eh. No need to store that stuff for so long. I wouldn’t buy anything until 30 weeks unless you happen upon a really great deal. At least wait until after your baby shower if you’re having one.
In particular car seats expire, so getting that 7 months too early is 7 months you lose on its lifespan, which you may care about if you have more kids later. 
I would have everything ready by 36 weeks though because babies come early all the time.

I'm 8 weeks, had an early reassurance scan last week and went out and bought in a fair amount of unisex clothes 🤷‍♀️ after 12 week scan I'll buy more clothes, bathing essentials, sleeping essentials and some time after 20 week scan I'll buy stroller and around 27/28weeks I'll buy change mat/nappies/wipes etc and that'll be me ready 😊 I love planning though ✨

I'm only 6 weeks but I had found a really good deal on a crib and changing table. My husband was the one who told me to get it and just store for later. It can always be used later on.

With my first baby, we didn't really start getting anything until after my baby showers. My baby showers were at 31 and 33 weeks. After that we started to fill in whatever we needed. I would caution you about buying a ton of clothes or diapers before the baby comes, mostly because you just don't know how big your baby will be. My daughter is 17 months, and just started wearing 12 month clothes about 6 weeks ago. If I had tried to buy clothes ahead of time, none of them would have been for the appropriate season. See what you get at your showers, then fill in as you go. Most likely, you'll only need newborn or size one diaper for the first several months. Use whatever diapers you get as gifts and then fill in as needed - you can also return diaper you receive and buy bigger boxes with the return money or buy off-brand ones to save money. Check out consignment sales and Craigslist for good deals on things like a changing table and other baby equipment. We were glad we kind of bought or borrowed as we went as we figured out what our baby liked and what fit in with our family.

It'll probably be a while before we start. We have a 15 month old so we already have most of the necessities. We basically just need another crib (which we've already picked out, we just need to actually buy it) and a double stroller, maybe a pack of bottles. And if it's a girl we need clothes but if it's a boy we already have a ton of those from my son and this one is due in May and my son is a June baby so seasonally everything would work. My son had issues with a lot of diapers so I'm not stockpiling those just in case this one is the same way. It's so nice this time not worrying about getting all that stuff. But the baby shower helped a lot!
