Engaged! Updated

So I can't post this on Facebook yet, but I'm too excited to hold it in. My boyfriend of 5 and 1/2 years finally proposed tonight!

He told me he wanted to carve pumpkins this weekend. So he brought a couple over to my house tonight for us to work on. We get mostly done with them, and he says he needs to run back out to his car to get candles to put in the pumpkins. So he's gone for a minute and comes back in with the candles and a lighter. He finished his pumpkin, but tells me I'm not allowed to see it; it's a surprise. So he tells me to close my eyes so he can take his pumpkin and mine outside and put them on my front porch.

When he comes back inside he tells me to close my eyes and keep them closed. He guides me out the door and down my porch steps. And then he tells me to open my eyes. I knew as soon as he spoke he was proposing because his voice came from below me. And sure enough, he was down on one knee, and 4 pumpkins were sitting behind him on my porch with the words "will you marry me" carved into them. But they were just a blur in the background to me. I was so focused on him.

I always hoped for some quiet, yet romantic gesture when I was proposed to. And he nailed it. I thought he'd go for a big romantic speech, too, but he simply asked, "Will you marry me?" And, honestly, it was perfect. The whole moment was perfect. And a beautiful ring, too! He's always had great taste in jewelry.

I am beyond excited to start this new journey with him. He's everything I want, and everything I didn't know I needed. He's my other half.
