Anyone else have no babysitters so can never go out??

Question

Does anyone else have no one in the family that can babysit their children so you can't go out anywhere? Me and my husband can go out separately with friends but not together! We can't go to weddings or parties together cos we have no one to look after the kids. I'm not willing to pay for babysitters either, I'm not happy to leave my kids with strangers whether they are checked etc or not!

Well, that’s your choice. I value my marriage enough to understand that we need a break from our kids together. We have 3 kids and full time jobs. We also have a monthly kid free date night and after 10 years, it’s vitally important. I want to be together long after our kids are grown and gone, and believe me, that happens so quickly.

Care.com is a great resource. Interview. Then have them come over with you home. Start with date nights after the kids go to bed so it’s an easy babysitting night for her and an easy transition for you. Build up from there. My favorite sitter we’ve had for over 2 years. She’s part of our family now.

Time together and away from from the kids is crucial, especially long term. You don’t want to wake up one morning wondering who your husband is. It happens more often then not.

I’m so conflicted on this post. Half of it is all like “I’m so sad I can’t go anywhere” and then the other half is “I refuse to pay for a babysitter”. Make up your mind lol if you want to have a night out with your husband then you may just need to hire someone 🤷🏻‍♀️ we live 3,000 miles from family due to my husband being military. We take our daughter everywhere with us. But if we need a night just the two of us to reconnect and spend time as a couple then we absolutely have a babysitter for our daughter.

We live in an area with no family that is around and it’s hard making friends as adults when you’re at work or home with your kiddo! So same here. We do stuff separately but never together unless with take our toddler. I used to work for CPS so definitely not comfortable leaving her with a stranger, esp since she can not communicate yet if something happens. Everyone will have their own opinion on this, but that’s how I feel. It stinks, but it’s a sacrifice of having a kiddo.

🙋🏻 hell to the no, I don’t trust anyone with my daughter except her grandparents and aunts/ uncles. I’ve seen terrible stories about babysitters from hell and if I’m going to relax I need to know my child is being cared for by someone I 100% trust.

Nobody watches our kids. I'm not ready to leave my 1 year old with a sitter. We still breast feed. No bottles. And we're both very attached.

We bring our son with us when we go out to eat and stuff. If we are going to be drinking or whatever our son stays with my husbands oldest sons mom over night.

So... you can't ever go out together with your kid(s)? My husband and I go out to eat or visit with friends fairly often with our baby. The going on a just-the-two-of-you date is different... do you have any friends that you'd trust to watch your kid(s), even just for an hour or two to go out and grab dinner together?

You could try having a “date” somewhere in the house/yard while the little ones are sleeping. Prep a meal, get dressed up, get out the candles and wine and pretend you’re out somewhere.
