This is HG.
I started throwing up multiple times a day (into the double digits) before I hit 5 weeks. From weeks 5-9 I lost nearly 20 pounds. Diclegis didn't do a thing. Phenergan didn't scratch the edge. This is so far beyond the "eat crackers before you get out of bed" and "did you try ginger ale?" kind of miserable. The doctor decided I needed a Zofran pump. I'm now 17 weeks and have had the pump for about 7 weeks. It's hard. Hyperemesis gravardium (HG) is hell. I have to put a push pin sized needle straight into my leg every other day and tape it down. It pushes medicine from an IV bag and pump that I have to wear around my waist every 2-3 minutes. It hasn't stopped me from throwing up completely, but it's helping a lot. My legs are running out of places for the needle. The spot where it goes in leaves a huge, red, puffy spot each time that hurts for days. I'm thankful that I'm more functional with the pump, but it's still not good. Check out the leg picture. Not one part of this is shadows. It's old bruises. The whitest white is my real skin color. The rest is my new life. I'm so thankful for the little baby that is growing inside me. I look forward to March when baby arrives and all of this mess is behind me.
