Should you purchase the carseat your parents use for your child?

So when my son was born we just needed one infant car seat because we were living with my parents at the time and could just transfer that from car to car with whoever needed it. When my son got bigger we bought 2 convertible car seats, one for my car and one for my husband's, and my parents used the infant one. He just now started to grow out of the infant seat because he's thin but tall. Now that we live on our own he's only with my parents on the weekends. I think my mom expects us to buy a car seat for her to use but knows we are not in any position right now to buy a 3rd car seat especially one that will be used maybe once a week.

I would just give her one of the ones u or ur husband uses . U can switch between u abs ur husbands car much easier . That way u so t have to buy another . There's always look into used . Yep I said it . 😱😱some ppl are not rich enough to buy everything new lol

I think it depends.
My mom bought one to pick my daughter up early from daycare every now and then so they could hang out - not because I needed her to watch my daughter. I think if the purpose is that you’re having them babysit, then you should either be giving them one of yours to use or buying one for them to use.

Yeah if your mom wants to take him places either she can get the one out of your car or your husbands. Otherwise I would just say you can buy one for your car if you don't want to switch it around all the time..

Give her one of your seats when your kid stays with them, or buy a secondhand one online. Doesn’t need to be fancy if it’s not being used much, save your money a bit.

My mother in law bought one herself but if I wanted my kid in a car seat and they weren’t going to buy one, I definitely would. Maybe you can just give her the one in either your or your husbands car. It will be annoying to switch out your car seats but better than your mom not having one. Or just give her yours when you drop him off.

Your parents should hopefully understand if you guys aren’t able to afford an extra car seat right now. If they aren’t willing to buy one themselves, then I would just transfer the car seat from your car to theirs when they are watching your son. I know it’s annoying to transfer them, but it seems to be the only option if no one buys a new one. That being said, no I don’t think your parents should expect you to buy one. My parents would never expect that and if I were to offer to buy one they would refuse and buy it themselves.
