Just need to have my own pity party

Meredith

So, I ended up in the ER last Sunday for some intense back pain. I was 29 weeks exactly (30 wks now). I initially thought perhaps it was a kidney stone as I've had one before. Turns out, it's my gallbladder and I somehow also got an infection as well. I will need to have my gallbladder taken out after the baby is born... approx 6-10 weeks. I felt like the worlds worst mother having to take pain meds, but it was honestly the worst pain I've ever experienced. they also wanted me to have a CT scan and I didn't want that either because of the radiation. finally they just went ahead and did a ultrasound and MRI instead. the one thing that cooperated during my 5 day hospital stay was my baby. his heart rate was found right away by all the nurses and he was totally cooperative. it's been an easy pregnancy so far to be honest and I've had no gallbladder symptoms before this. I'm on a low fat diet right now to try and keep my gallbladder calm until I can have it taken out, and even then, the docs say I could do everything right and still have another flair up. it's just a scary time, because I want to be sure I'm eating enough for the baby but also... keep my stupid gallbladder calm. :( this is my first baby and I just needed a minute to have a pity party for one as it sucks. anyone else have gallbladder issues while pregnant? it's apparently common.. with hormonal changes we pregnant ladies go through.
