How much time do you plan to take off from work/school?

Just wondering how much time you all plan to take off after having your baby! Are you only allowed a certain amount of time off? I'm in a grad school program where I have to follow their schedule otherwise I can't be in the program. My baby is due mid June and I have to go back to school early September. So 2 1/2 months. And I already feel terrible about having to leave my baby at such a young age but I also know women who are barely even allowed to rake off 6 weeks. How do you all feel about this topic?

Leave caps make me so sad. Every person and baby is so different there shouldn't be a one size fits all leave. Do grad programs not have some sort of FMLA situation? I'm hoping to take around 15 weeks off work. I think we contractually get 6, but I have at least 14 weeks of PTO saved up so I'm going to dip into that 🤞🏽

With my first I went back after four weeks. I felt great and my husband had so much vacation time saved so he stayed home with baby. It was great bonding for them. It helped my get into a pumping routine. Plus, my job wasn't paid leave so I wanted to go back so that money wouldn't be tight. This time we were trying for a summer baby so that I'd be off, I work in a high school. We got pregnant faster than expected and baby is due early May. Close enough for me!

Im probably going to take 8 or so months off from school. I only have 2 classes to take after this semester, which will be over when im about 30 weeks pregnant.
