Labour decisions??

Is it completely not ok for me to explain to my mother that I don't want her in labouring with me? She loves the thought of being a grandpatent and being their for their birth (1st grandchild on my side) but all threw my life we've had problems she is an alcoholic but is trying her best to beat the addiction, i just feel birth is a time for me & my SO to enjoy

Birth is soo personal to you and your partner. when i went into labour 48 hours before i gave birth we went off grid. didnt tell anyone anything, did it all totally on our own. once baby was here we were forgiven for not keeping in touch with anyone. it was our choice though. everyone was treated equally and no arguments "oh she was there, je was there not me" please make the best decision for you your SO and your baby, dont try and please everyone else xx

It’s your baby and your body. The goal of anyone in the labor room should be to keep you happy and stress free. If you have any doubt then just tell her. You can always change your mind later on but if you’re already not wanting here in there you need to have a conversation with her about that. I have a good relationship with my mom and honestly the only person I want in with me is my husband

Completely fair! You should absolutely do what is best for you and your SO. I have a great relationship with my mother but I still only want my SO in there with me. A lot of people do that you are not unfairly leaving her out! To appease her - maybe say that you want her to be the first family member to meet the baby after the delivery, so invite her to the post - delivery room after you and SO and baby have had some time alone.
