Making old wooden dresser smell better??

Question

My husband & I have a dresser that was his mother's before she passed away and we'd like to use it for our little girls clothing, I'm 22w2d so we have a little time to get it figured out if it can be saved or have to buy new. The thing is it has a old dresser smell if you know what I mean, not moldy or musty just a old kinda smell to it like some old houses or closet have. My question is how can I make it the smell go away? I've read that baking soda & white vinager works but wondering if any of you ladies ran into this issue. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!☺

To get smell out of wood you'll need to Kilz it and repaint. The baking soda and vinegar can bleach the wood like salt.

If you take it out from that environment and wash it several time, and also leave the doors open, the smell will eventually go away. There is also the option of painting it again. I would choose any of these instead of buying a new one

you can try painting the outside of it and putting a bunch of dryer sheets in the drawers until a couple weeks before your due date. it should take care of the smell, if it doesn't and you're worried about it then get another one for the baby to use. hope this helps!!

If it's just an old dresser the smell probably wouldn't be dangerous unless it possibly has lead paint (not sure how old we are talking here)

i had a dresser once that had a funky smell to it.i ended up painting the outside but also the inside.( thats just what i did though💁)
