Wow, I’m so surprised so many don’t have to pay any thing! Very happy for your mommas that don’t.  We have Blue cross and paid our OB alone 2300$ before she will deliver and then when I went to preregister the hospital said we would have to pay $1800 for delivery there. And that’s not for an epidural and only for a normal delivery. Very stressful. I wish there was more help for moms who have to pay out the pocket like this.

If I just had been billed for my csection it was 20k. After my daughter was in the nicu and all was said and done it was well over 200,000 together. My insurance covered the whole thing. I had a maternity copay before delivery that covered everything from beginning of pregnancy until 6 weeks after. I have friends who had zero complications and had to pay 2,000 or more out of pocket. Totally depends on insurance.

My husband works for the state so we have great insurance. Our family deductible is $500 so it won’t be any more than that for us. I’d look at your insurance and see what your deductible is.

1250 total. Including the 8/9 months of care. Plus 2 nights in hospital. I think we have pretty great insurance.

It really depends on your insurance. So I had really great insurance through my school last pregnancy, low deductible low co-pay, and my “bill” was $15,000 for a vaginal birth no epidural or any kind of medication and a 2 night stay. Out of pocket we paid $2000 ($800 dr and $1200 Hospital) for me and $500 for my baby. Generally you are billed by your dr separately than your hospital. If your dr is expensive, your out of pocket will be more. I since have insurance through my husband and it is a high deductible plan. If we were to have another baby right now we would have to pay $6000 just to meet our deductible, not even considering the 20% coinsurance after you meet that. So our bill would be much higher now simply because my plan changed. Generally speaking, both my births were around $15,000 for unmedicated vaginal delivery. Using your deductible and coinsurance amount you should be able to get a rough estimate of how much it will cost you.

Had I had no complications it would have been 125.00, but because I'm double covered, 0. 
My daughter did have complications that requires the days in NICU, they have billed over 70k and so far I have only seen that they expect me to pay 2300.00. However, I haven't actually recieved a bill from the hospital so it might have been covered by my second insurance. Even if I do recieve the bill, my hospital has a financial aid program that even if you make pretty decent money qualify to have the bill waived after insurance paid it's portion.
The best thing to do is call your insurance and hospital billing department to see what they offer 👍
