Wait what??? Hysteroscopy?

I’m so bummed...🙁🙁🙁I had an D&E; on 8/15/17. My fertility dr wanted to check to make sure everything was ok. So I had a procedure today (SHG) And of course it’s not. He found a small piece of scar tissue. He said I would have to have a Hysterectomy done. Has anyone ever had this done? If so what was it like? Were you able to conceive afterwards? How long did you have to wait before you could try again? Really information would help.

I think you mean hysteroscopy - it's a minor surgery to remove scar tissue, as everyone else has mentioned, a hysterectomy is a very different procedure.
 It's so individual what the likelihood of getting pregnant afterwards is, it really depends on the severity of the scarring to begin with and other factors.

A hysterectomy is a surgical procedure that removes your uterus. Depending on the circumstances, they may remove your Fallopian tubes and ovaries too. There isn't a way you could carry a baby if you get the hysterectomy. I'm sorry

I think you must be confusing hysterectomy with another procedure, a hysterectomy is when they completely remove uterus, Fallopian tubes, etc. however if your doctor is recommending this based on scar tissue from a D&E;, I think you need to get a second opinion before proceeding.

Yes, I had the procedure done. They removed a significant amount of scar tissue due to endometriosis. They also drained some cysts. I was able to get pregnant twice with iui fertility treatments. We had some male factor fertility issues as well. It’s a day surgery. Pretty quick recovery.

I’m confused. A hysterectomy would involve removing your uterus. Are you sure that’s what they said they are going to do? Because you definitely won’t be able to conceive after that. 
Unless they are just doing a partial hysterectomy and removing a tube and ovary. If that’s the case, then it’ll be harder to conceive but not impossible. It really just depends on what they are removing but typically unless they state that it’s a PARTIAL hysterectomy, then you’ll have everything removed..
