Why is crying a thing?

I literally just full on hysterically cried for literally no reason other than I don’t feel particularly great today. My poor husband just rubbed my leg while it happened. Nothing triggered it. I just started wailing. Why is this a thing??😭😩😢

My hormones are wack. I cried last night because my boyfriend had to go to work. I also cried when we ran out of cereal. It's just strange.

The way your nervous system works, everything that happens in your body is a result of sodium:potassium ratios. Crying helps release excess sodium from the body as well as excreting out stress hormones. You feel better after crying because you're better balanced and have less stress hormones present. Very technical answer, but it's normal and helps you out, so don't be too pissed with your body for it!
