What do you feed your 1 year old?

I don’t give him any fast food even if we go out to a fast food place I pack a desperate lunch for him. My son mostly eats rice, cheese, pasta, fruits, and bread. My inlaws judge me because I don’t want to give my son sugar or any unhealthy food yet like ice cream or McDonald’s fries. I just think he’s to young for that stuff right now. Am I being overbearing? Do you give your baby/toddler fast food?

You are absolutely right and doing a great job. He doesn't need the sugar and junk food at all, he'll definitely will get into it later, but delay it as long as you can.   I'll admit to allowing my 2-year old an occasional fry or something sweet. But he doesn't know what candy is, doesn't like ice cream, and only gets juice on special occasions. I'll keep it that way as long as I can.

Nope. My daughter has never had anything from a box. She eats fruits, vegetables and meat with healthy fats. She also eats yogurt and cheese but has never had any grains. You're the parent and you get to decide. Mine won't have grains until well after a year and won't have any sugar until closer to 4-5 and never refined sugar. She'll never taste fast food until she can go on her own and pay for it (we don't eat fast food... other than coffee lol)

Sure do! As a mom of 2 with a third on the way and my oldest very involved in sports we are always on the go. We eat out at least once a week, my kids eat whatever is easiest for breakfast, usually a bag of mini muffins during the week and they are perfectly healthy and I'm not ashamed at all that my kids eat fast food and have sugar, in moderation of course. We do make dinner at home at least 5 nights a week and it's a healthy dinner, also if my kids don't eat their dinner they don't get a bedtime snack which is usually ice cream.

I'm with you! I'm going to make sure my daughter eats healthy the first 2 years of life because that when you have the most brain growth and development. I want to give her the best start in life possible! Once she is two I'll be more flexible and allow snacks and fast food in moderation (just like I do for myself). Remember your the parent!

I don't think you're wrong at all for wanting to limit sugar and junk. It's just not necessary and it doesn't create healthy eating habits for them. A 1 year old can eat anything you eat as long as it's not a choking hazard, but I would definitely avoid giving them fast food. The things you commented are a good start, but I would add in cooked veggies! If baby is exposed to a variety of healthy foods now they'll be less likely to be picky as they get older.

I’m with you on that and don’t eat out much so when we do my 1 and a half year old and 3 year old will get a McDonald’s happy meal if we chose to go there. But I make them eat pretty healthy too.

My 9 month old is super in to whatever we’re eating and I’ll usually give her little bites. We try to avoid fast food for ourselves and that’s not something we give her. But if we’re at a restaurant, I’ll share my food with her. She’s had eggs and some bites of muffin when we went out for breakfast, yesterday some broccoli cheddar soup at Panera. She has had some  bites of cake and ice cream at because grandmas on both sides had birthdays last month and insisted 🙄 but overall I try to keep her food as wholesome as possible! Do what you think is right for your baby ❤️

My son’s 13 months old. I give him stuff off the menu at Panera or Chipotle, and I give him 2 bites of frozen yogurt when we get that (once every other weekend). But other than that he eats homemade meals with lean meats, veggies, and fruits. My son eats an adult plate of food every meal, I can’t fit all that in his diaper bag with everything else when we go out, so if SO and I are gonna treat ourselves might as well treat the baby too. You’re the parent, you get to make the rules about what your child eats. Boggles my mind that someone would complain about choosing to NOT feed your baby McDonalds.

We dont eat out much, but when we do, we let her sample it, yeah. She always just eats what we eat. She will eat anything I offer at this point, so we are enjoying that before the picky toddler stage starts.
