Mastitis

Jo

My son has a col and I have a cold so we both weren’t breastfeeding enough. Daniel has been extremely tired from his cold so he’s been sleeping. Unfortunately my right boob noticed the change and got angry at me. It is now red, swollen, hard and lumpy. I didn’t realize I was getting mastitis until my boob hurt more than anything. My cold symptoms masked the other symptoms of mastitis. The only symptom I don’t have is a fever but I never get those. I’m going to the ER tomorrow. No point in going tonight because I would have to wait until morning to get checked out anyways. I do wonder if they’ll even listen to me because I don’t have a fever. My old doctor once said “you don’t have a fever so you’re not really sick” I actually had bronchitis then. My GP now never has appointments available so I’m going to the ER instead. I’m just venting sort of because I can’t sleep. My nose is stuffy and my right boob feels like it’s been beaten with a metal baseball bat. Life sort of sucks right now. It almost makes me wish I had given my son formula but I love breastfeeding even when it sucks.
