Period cramping pain at 31 weeks?

I️ had to go to the hospital on Monday (long story) and they told me i was having contractions and already 1 cm dilated. I’m only 31 weeks. They gave me a shot to stop the contractions but now today i have started to have pain that feels similar to period cramps and i have been out of breath a lot? Is this normal? I’m kind of worried. First time mom here if you couldn’t tell. 😅

Not sure if it's normal or not as I'm 26 weeks now with my first as well but my cousin with her first child was two centimeters dilated the entire last month of her pregnancy from 32-37 weeks! With her last she was 3cm for three weeks before she gave birth! Babies were both absolutely fine but I'm certain everyone's situation is different. 🤷🏻‍♀️ if your doctors aren't concerned I'd just try to stay calm and hope for the best!
