Missing arm at anatomy scan

mo

Hello all. desperate mama to be looking for some advice.

It has been a very difficult journey for me to become a mom. I had a missed miscarriage in march, 2017 and a chemical pregnancy in May, 2017. We were so excited to find out we were pregnant again with a baby girl due in march, 2018! NIPT and spine blood work came back normal. At our 20 week anatomy scan this week, the doctor told us our baby girl is missing her left forearm and hand. The tech and MFM doctor scanned over the area 4x from different angles so I️ know they can’t be wrong. Everything else looks normal. We did an amnio to rule out any chromosomal abnormalities which the doctor doesn’t think is the case - likely amniotic band syndrome or a vascular incident. My world is completely shattered. When you get pregnant you dream up a world for your baby - i feel like i am grieving the loss of a normal child. I know I’ll give my baby the best life possible. We are fortunate to be in a big city and have lots of resources. I don’t doubt that while things will be difficult, she will achieve many things. I worry more about the social implications - kids teasing her, her being left out. Does anyone have any experience? Insight? Words of encouragement?
