Is sexual and relationship education being taught enough in schools? (Particularly higher education schools)

on "sex ed" day (yes, One day, a 45 minute class), a man came in with chocolates and said, "I need two volunteers" and two people went up front. he said, "What is the best form of contraception?" and one said condoms, one said pills. he gave them each a piece of chocolate. then he said, "you're both wrong. the only way to protect yourself from becoming a parent is abstinence. Oh, and that chocolate is a chocolate laxatives. HAHAHAHA."
And then he left. He gave the kids chocolate laxatives, said that the only safe sex is no sex, and left. THAT WAS THE ONLY SEX ED WE GOT. That may explain why literally 25 girls were pregnant in my year.

When I was in school our sex education was literally 'sex is just something you have to do for men you probably won't like it but you have to do it' and that was it, they only taught girls about periods (very briefly) but I think it's important for boys to do these things too, we also only looked at the male body and I had no idea women could orgasm until I accidentally found things on the internet, I think it's shocking how bad sex education is and how gender biased it is plus how much they miss out

My sex Ed class was an elective class (that I had to beg my parents to let me join because to them, sex is sinful), and it wasn't that great. The whole class was learning about different STD's. Which I guess is good to know, but the teacher didn't cover anything about consent, safe sex or what sex actually IS. I was raised so conservatively that the class did nothing for me. I had no idea what sex even really was until I was 18. 
People always say "well you can just go look it up on the internet". No, you can't. Firstly, my internet at home was strictly monitored by my insanely conservative parents. They would have flipped if they'd found anything concerning sex Ed on the computer. Second, I thought that sex Ed class meant I'd learned everything I needed to know about sex. So if I'd learned everything I needed to know, why would I go do more research? 
The sex Ed in this country is pathetic and if I'd had better education I could have avoided some pretty awful situations.

I said absolutely . In middle school each year we had a week long seminar in P.E . About sex Ed and health was a required class in high school. These were both extensive and beneficial .
