MUST READ FOR ALL GROUP B POS MOMS

From experience:

If you test positive for strep b and you'll deliver vaginally or csection make your doctor give antibiotics at least 4 hours prior to delivering/surgery. I found at at 35 weeks I had tested postive for strep b in my urine earlier on (yeah just told at 35 weeks, why am I just now finding out about it?) anyhow I had researched and asked my doctor a few times to please do the antibiotics 4 hours prior to my scheduled csection at 37 weeks and he refused because he didn't think it was necessary??

I had my csection 11/6/17 and sure enough my baby boy came out with respiratory issues and was transferred to the children's hospital 2 hours away from me. I was released 24 hours later to go be with him. In pain and trying to recover is hard but I couldn't be anywhere else with him being so sick. He's been intubated twice and currently doing ok on cpap today. But after speaking with this awesome group of doctors I asked if the strep b is what caused this and he immediately answered yes! He explained that alrhough there's a low chance of passing strep b to the baby through csection the chances increase drastically if it's postive in the urine!!! How frustrating right, to think this could of been prevented. So my post is to encourage you other moms to make your doctor listen to you and get that antibiotics on board to hopefully prevent a NICU stay or worst..

Please keep our sweet boy in yalls thoughts and prayers, he will remain in the NICU for at least 9 more days to get his IV antibiotics...
