do you spank your child(ren) ?

im not doing this to start a warzone of arguments.  im simply curious. there are a hell of alot of ppl on this app that consider spanking the way to discipline.

regardless of u not wanting to start a war, it will happen. I am against spanking. I was not spanked as a child and I was behaved, I listened to reason, I did not throw myself on the floor in stores. I eat the food that was given to me, and I respected my parents and other people in general. some on here think that not spanking = rude , uneducated kids, that become asshole adults. and that's just bogus. not only not all kids respond well to spanking,  but more so, plenty of reserch, shows that spanking (while it might work for some), has a bad effect on the majority of kids. and yes, given myself as an anecdotal story, is not the best example, but the reserch shows that major of spanked kids, develop adverse reactions and it negatively affects them as adults. yes I know there's a difference between abuse/ hitting and spanking. I'm not confusing the two. SPANKING shows to have a much bigger NEGATIVE IMPACT on the majority of kids, then it does good. positive feedback, educating Ur child, explaining and rewarding good behavior, are a much better aproach , then spanking

Logic, research, reason, psychology, science, & research will always be against all the parents that choose spanking as a method of parenting. Refusing to ignore facts so you can hit your child and feel ok with it is wrong. Children deserve to be respected and brought up in a home that cares for their overall well being. Stop with your bullshit logic and anecdotal arguments no peer viewed research is on your side. Sorry but choosing to ignore research that proves this form of discipline will most likely result in a child having mental health problems makes you a shitty parent to me.

I think DISCIPLINE is the main thing. Some parents are simply not educated enough on various techniques to do anything other than spank. I'd rather a parent spank their child to give them some sort of discipline than simply eliminate spanking without implementing another form of behavioral modification. I feel like having a complete lack of discipline would be far more detrimental to a child than using spanking in an appropriate way. That being said, I believe there are far better, more effective ways to discipline a child than spanking. Spanking will always and forever be a retroactive, reactive form of parenting rather than a proactive form, and I'm a big believer in teaching children to be proactive. Just my 2 cents.

No, I don't spank my partners kids and won't be spanking my own either. I was spanked as a child and I hated it but always learnt from my mistakes.
As an adult, I love a good spanking 😉💁

Will never punish with physical punishment. And it is also illegal, and you can get prison for it. Or lose your child. Never was hit or spanked by my parents and I was doing good in school and never did stupid stuff.

Spanking will not be a form of discipline in our household. For example, if my son hits me or someone else I can't justify telling him he's not allowed to hit by me hitting him as punishment. With that said though I know that it can and has been effective for lots of families so I don't judge, that's the beauty of being a parent, you get to make the decision and it's nobody else's business.

My husband and I were both spanked if we did something deserving of a spanking. That's the thing about spankings though... once you've had a couple you learn not to behave in a manner that will get you spanked. We both turned out fine. In my opinion Spankings don't damage kids they discipline kids. But everyone has their own way of parenting and as long as there is some form of discipline then there is no right or wrong. Just different.
