So I had to take a job that provided housing because I was going to be homeless, they didn't allow dogs.. I asked my dad if my 5 year-old pit can stay with him until I can find a place. Well he asked this lady who has had dogs and was home more if she could watch him. Well now its 5 months later and I just found housing. Would it be wrong to ask for my dog back now or no?

It all depends on if you’ve consistently been checking up on your dog or not. You could always ask her, but if you haven’t been checking up on the well being of the dog, it’s no longer your business and it’s considered abandonment.

Did your dad give her the dog with her thinking it was permanent or does she know it was only ever supposed to be temporary? Have you been visiting, walking and helping to care for the dog (as long as you are living within a distance for that to be reasonable)? Have you been contributing towards feeding and care costs?
