My husbands favourite child

This might be a little bit long.

My lovely husband and I have been together for 5 years, he has two kids from a previous marriage, a boy aged 11 and a girl aged 10. I absolutely adore these kids and they adore me, everything is amicable with his ex too which is great!

I’m currently 38 weeks pregnant with our little boy, who will be my first biological child.

Over the weekend my husband has had some trouble with his son, his attitude altogether is quite naughty and stroppy, he’s starting fights with his sister and acting out for my husband. (This has nothing to do with our baby’s imminent arrival as he has always had some sort of attitude problem, as much as I love him!)

Anyway when speaking to my husband about him last night, he then proceeded to say that his daughter will always be his favourite. Don’t get me wrong, he said he loves all his kids the same, but his daughter will always stick out. Am I wrong to be upset about this?

We got into a little bit of an argument about it after that, and in all honesty I got a bit jealous of his daughter. It’s very hard to start a life with someone who already has kids, and we have been doing great up until this point, but considering I’m carrying his unborn child, this hurt me a little bit. I don’t want him to have any favourites with any of our kids.

He kind of backtracked last night after I got upset and he said he doesn’t have a favourite and he will love all his kids equally, and I must understand he’s had a relationship with these kids for 11 years, which I do understand. I just woke up still kind of upset about it and I’m trying to get past it right now.

Can someone please put this into perspective for me so I can take a more positive and mature approach to this? Is it as much of a big deal as my mind is telling me? I would very much like to get past this but I know what my silly (hormonal) mind is like and I will most probably continue to overthink this for the rest of the day.
