Would you leave your partner over an unwillingness to have children?

Here’s a scenario... you meet someone who you think is the one, boy or girl, it doesn’t matter. From the beginning, they are honest with you and say they don’t want kids. You tell them you want a child one day. The topic comes up time and time again throughout the relationship, but nothing changes. They don’t want kids and you do. You’ve been together for a while and you don’t want kids for at least another 6 years. Would you leave this person even if they are everything you could have wanted in a partner?

I would have left in the beginning. Having children is very important to me and I wouldn’t be able to compromise on that.

Kids are 100% deal breaker with me. even if I was not ready, I always made sure to find out from the start, if the guy wanted kids or not. if they didnt, they got kicked to the curb. with my now husband,  we had the "marriage and kids" conversation,  2 months into dating. we both wanted kids and to get married. and here we are 6 years later, married, with a few bought homes, and a one year old daughter. if he would have changed his mind along the way, he would have been dumped. kids and marriage have been a deal breaker for me, from the start. u don't want them in the future,  I'm not for u. u changed Ur mind? good bye.

I think if you go into a relationship knowing that the other person doesn’t want the some things as you than you need to move on.  
When I first started dating my husband I was 18 and didn’t want kids I told him that.  He did but not for a while. We stay together and he never pushed me on kids.  
Now if you are with someone and you are trying to have kids and it’s not work. I would stay I don’t think that is a reason to leave.

I would have never had a relationship with someone knowing they never wanted children. I’m one of those people who feels like they were put on the earth to be a mom so I could never give up my dream even if they were perfect for me in every other way.

we were high school sweethearts and as we got older and it got more serious we talked about marriage- he could care less, stable jobs- he would just wing it and leave if he wanted to "make things" and kids- he didn't. 
all opposite of me. we tried a little longer but I realised he was not growing up the way I was and we split.
