Would you consider lotus birth?

I would keep the placenta attached for about 10 min, but after that, cut the cord. I don't want to take that mess home lol

There is actually research that says this can pass an infection to your baby. It's rotting flesh. If you want felt clamping for a few minutes that's on thing. But allowing this to stay attached to the baby until it rots off is another. Even animals bite the cords to detach their babies in the wild. The placenta is not meant to stay attached.

I don't think it's an eww as much as its a huge inconvenience and who the hell is gonna try to carry the baby along with the placenta everywhere you go. just no.

Yes, I would consider a lotus birth. Keeping the placenta attached is a great way to keep people away from Baby for the first few days.  I think it would remind Mom (&Dad) to let the first few days of life be gentle and quiet. 
Baby has been attched to the placenta for all of it's life, I'm sure the smell is soothing to Baby. I like the idea of letting the detachment of the placenta be a natural and gentle event.
I do not know of any scientificly proven benefits, this is just my view on it.
