Crohns and birth control?

I have Crohn’s disease and I want to start birth control. I have never been on or have had any type of birth control before. I was wondering if there are any women on here that have experience with have crohns and being on birth control (any type). I was also wondering what birth control might work best with Crohns.

I’ve been on many types of birth control. The one that seemed to work best was depo. Birth control is really a matter of trial and error. It would be best to discuss methods with your doctor and continue to work with them until you’re satisfied with your birth control method.

I was on the mini pill - single hormone, progesterone only. The only risk with it is that you absolutely must take it within the same 3 hours every day, so patient compliance is very important. But the upsides for me were amazing. My body rejected the dual hormone pills and it was miserable. With the mini pill, my bp was low and I felt good, weight gain was minimal - like 3 lbs. Another benefit is that you could start ttc as soon as you go off of it, whereas the dual hormone pill takes ~3 months to leave your system. I got pregnant on the first ovulation both times 🤷🏻‍♀️. Love the mini pill. It causes the least amount of trauma to your body imo.

I was on azzurette for 8 years and it worked very well for me. I tried nuvaring but couldn’t afford it to stay with it.
