Hi guys,

I’m a little upset with my partner’s side of the family but he seems to think i’m over reacting... We’re expecting our first child at the end of Feb, so his family’s first grandkid. We went through <a href="https://glowing.com/glow-fertility-program">ivf</a> so they know it was a struggle to get here.

First, his parents announce that they’re going to Europe for a month from the end of Jan. They’re planning on being back for the 27th (the due date), but only by a day or so. They’re retired so they can literally go whenever they want, but choose to go so close to when the baby’s due? Oh but that’s apparently ok because ‘we’ll be there for the rest of his life’.. um?

Then today I discover that my BIL and his partner are going overseas for 3 weeks from mid Feb. What? Again, can literally go whenever but please, choose the due date to go?

Am I right to be upset by this? It just makes me think that if his family aren’t going to make the birth a priority, then what about the rest of his life?

I know that all families are different but this just through me through a loop. And don’t get me wrong, they’re lovely people but they’re just not a close-knit family like mine are.
